Letters of hope – connect with the elderly community

In today’s digital world it is easier for some to stay connected through video chats, and through various social media channels with friends and family during self-isolation. But for our elderly community, staying connected to the outside world is not that easy.

As aged care facilities have implemented stricter measures to keep their residents safe during this pandemic, this has cut off some of the only routine social interaction elderly residents had. Pacific Werribee would like to invite the community to connect with Aged Care members during this time of isolation, by connecting with partner facilities through our community pen pal program. This is open to both adults and children alike. Through pen pal writing, children can practice an act of kindness, gain perspective of someone else’s life, and learn patience as they wait days for a response.

Some ideas for ways to connect can be hand-written letters, pictures, videos, or children’s drawings. Or you can download our Kindness cards for inspiration – https://pacificwerribee.com.au/whats-on/kindness-cards/
