Stephen from MarketPlace

Stephen Fanous began at A&P Wholesale at a young age of 14. His boss Arthur Kneebone who had now opened two stores at Dandenong market, and Parkmore shopping centre; could see the potential in a motivated young man, like Stephen.

The business had expanded positively as he worked in store and after only two years in the business, Stephen was promoted to forklift driver with the job of loading trucks at the market.

Over the years that followed, Stephen’s hard work and commitment would be acknowledged as he was promoted to a buyers position, then as partner; at which point the name of the business was reinstated as A&S Wholesale.

The business has continued to prosper and grow over the last decade. A&S has respectively taken on more stores, now totalling 9 fruit and vegetable stores, 6 florists and employing a staff of 400.

Two years ago, the business worked with a brand development company and began trading under the name Marketplace.
Sadly, earlier this year Arthur passed away, leaving Stephen as sole director.

Stephen has a well-refined work ethic, paired with a can-do attitude; he has taken on the position with the energy, diligence and commitment needed to succeed.

Robert, the Werribee store operator works collectively with Stephen and the Marketplace team to ensure the high standard of business is met on a daily basis. You can find Robert in store personally organising the floor every day.

Nowadays, the store branding is more than just a business name; it is a market place, directly reflective of the authenticity in any market you might find around the world.
It encompasses all parts of a market, significantly because the passion that goes into every day predominately overrides that of any other retail outlet.

A pioneer of the industry, in its own rights; Marketplace maintains the highest quality fresh produce and service, with ongoing support for all local communities, Australian farmers and families.

With much to look forward to in the future, Marketplace is set to impress; make it your next stop at Pacific Werribee now.
